We are asking for your support for a Black child who has carried more than any child should have to.
He is not only trying to rebuild his life—he is also grieving the loss of his mother, while still trying to hold on to what remains of his childhood. At a time when he should be surrounded by care and protection, he has had to navigate pain, uncertainty, and experiences far beyond his years.
At just 12 years old, during a schoolyard game, an incident occurred that changed the course of his life. What should have remained a moment of childhood play instead followed him for years—shaping his school experience, his well-being, and his sense of safety in the world.
His experience also raises deeper concerns about how Black children are treated—particularly the ways adultification, criminalization, and anti-Black racism can shape how their actions are perceived and responded to by systems and adults around them.
During that time, when he needed care, understanding, and protection the most, his family believes he was met with responses that left him feeling isolated rather than supported.
Losing his mother in the midst of all of this has only deepened the weight he carries. Grief at such a young age is overwhelming on its own—but combined with everything else, it has had a profound impact on his emotional well-being and sense of stability.
Now 15, he is trying—day by day—to find his way back. To heal. To feel safe again. To simply be a child, while slowly beginning to believe in a future that still holds possibility.
But he cannot do it alone.
He deserves a real chance to move forward.
Funds raised will go toward:
Mental health and grief support
Educational support and tutoring
Youth programs and mentorship
Stability and resources for a fresh start
This is about helping a young person heal, rebuild, and reclaim his path after loss and adversity.
Every child deserves care, compassion, and the opportunity to thrive—especially after facing so much.
If you’re able to contribute, thank you. If not, sharing this page can make a meaningful difference.
Details have been kept general to protect the privacy of the youth and his family.
