Asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I am sharing my story with a vulnerable heart, hoping for understanding and support as I take steps to rebuild my life. I am a hardworking, employed parent, doing everything I can to keep my children safe while trying to create a way out for us. After enduring 13 years of domestic violence, I have finally found the strength to leave and am now working to build a safer, happier future for myself, my children, and our pets. This decision was not easy, but I know it is the right one for our well-being and peace of mind.
Leaving now, during such a hostile and uncertain time—both within our home and in the world around us—feels absolutely terrifying. The impact of this long-term abuse has been profound, especially on my children. They have experienced fear and uncertainty for far too long, and I am determined to give them the stability and safety they deserve. In addition to the legal challenges, I am also trying to relocate back to my home state to be near my mother, who is a vital source of support for us.
