Les was homeless, living out of his Toyota van on the streets.
We started this fundraiser. With the help of a lot of people, we managed to raise $5,700, which is amazing.
We found a great van, but were still $300 short of the purchase price, plus the van needed some repairs .... AND Les' trusty Toyota car finally had to be put on the scrap heap, so he now has no transport.
Can you help? Do you know of a cheap car? Or, if you can make a donation, it would be gratefully received and very well spent.
Les is a 76 year old top bloke who who needs a bit of help.
Les is a pensioner and likes to mainly keep to himself but will happily have a chat to you to tell you his life story.
Les is an ex professional solo speedway rider from the early 70s who raced in Australia and England. He's legendary, but humble about it.
Typical of his generation, Les has worked hard all his life. He's been a farrier, motor bike mechanic and has helped run a business.
Les has had some terribly tragic events in his life but has been amazingly stoic and worked through it all, but those events still haunt him.
He's been through loss no one should have to endure. Despite all this, he continues to live a clean life and has not turned to drugs or alcohol.
If you can help this all round top bloke with a gift toward a the repairs on his van or a new car we would be forever grateful.
