This fundraiser is for a loving single mother who has spent years doing everything she can to care for her family while facing an overwhelming amount of loss, grief, and financial hardship.

In 2019, Amber and her family lost everything in a devastating house fire. In the blink of an eye, their home, belongings, and sense of security were gone. After the fire, she and her family experienced months of homelessness, trying to figure out where they would sleep, how they would get back on their feet, and how they would begin rebuilding their lives. During that incredibly difficult time, she still tried to keep everything together not only for her child and herself, but also for a younger sibling who depended on her. Even while scared, exhausted, and unsure of what the future would hold, she continued pushing forward because others were counting on her. Eventually, she began rebuilding their lives from the ground up. It was not easy, but she worked hard to create stability and a safe home for her family.

Unfortunately, the hardships did not stop there. She is a single mother raising one child with special needs, and providing the care, appointments, transportation, and support her child needs has always been her priority. Over the past two years, she has endured unimaginable loss, including the deaths of four siblings, with the most recent loss on February 24, 2026. Carrying that grief while continuing to work and care for her child has taken an enormous emotional toll. She has been struggling with her mental and emotional well-being and has tried to take time away from work to process everything and regain her strength, but that time off has not been financially sustainable. There have been days when she has struggled just to afford groceries and keep up with basic household expenses. Now, after recently being involved in a car accident, everyday life has become even more difficult. Without reliable transportation, she is relying on Uber to get to and from work and to take her child to important appointments. With her child's school starting soon, transportation will become an even greater necessity and financial burden.

She is not asking for a life of luxury. She just wants a chance to breathe, grieve without constantly worrying about how she will pay the next bill, recover from everything she has been through, and continue safely providing for her child.

Funds raised will help with immediate necessities such as groceries, transportation to and from work and her child's appointments, school transportation, household bills, and ongoing medication needs while she works toward becoming financially stable again.

If you are able to donate, any amount truly helps. Even a small contribution can take one more burden off her shoulders. If you are not in a position to give, sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and community would mean just as much. She has spent years putting her family first and doing everything she can to keep going, even when hurting. She is asking for support so she can keep going. Thank you for taking the time to read her story, for caring about this family, and for helping them through this incredibly difficult chapter. Every donation, prayer, kind word, and share can make a difference.

Just a little bit about me, Ashley Showell, and why I'm organizing this fundraiser. When my youngest kid was very small and I was struggling in a Pasadena childrens museum to chase down my oldest, I met Amber. She was working there and took great care to help me and make me feel seen, as the mom of two small kids, trying to figure things out. We connected and thought about getting our two kids to play. Shortly after our meeting, I saw the news about Amber's house burning down in an article. We have kept in touch and checked in on one another for the last 8 years. I'd love to see Amber and K get a break from the difficulties they have continued to encounter. I appreciate you taking the time to read her story.
