Hi community,
I’m writing to ask for urgent support for my dear friend — a deeply compassionate, hardworking, and resilient single mom who now needs the kind of help she has so often given to others.
Her name is Raevin. She is a Black queer single mother raising her 15-month-old daughter completely on her own in Los Angeles. Raevin has spent over 12 years working with children, particularly those with autism and developmental disabilities. She is a behavioral therapist, a caregiver by nature, and someone who pours her heart into helping others thrive.
But right now, Raevin is in crisis.
She works for a private family as a nanny and behavioral support provider. However, the family has been traveling for several weeks — and they don’t pay her while they’re away. That means Raevin has had no stable income during this time, and despite picking up odd jobs wherever she can, she’s struggling to make ends meet.
She’s now facing housing insecurity and urgently needs support with:
• Covering the remainder of this month’s rent
• Buying groceries and baby essentials
• Keeping up with utilities and basic bills
• Maintaining stability until her job resumes on August 15
Raevin is doing this all without any support from her child’s father and without any family nearby. She’s alone in this — raising a toddler and trying to survive one of the most expensive cities in the country.
Despite everything, Raevin continues to show up for others — caring, giving, and loving deeply. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
This is a call for mutual aid and community care. Whether you can give $5, $25, or $100, it will go directly toward keeping Raevin and her baby housed, fed, and safe. Even just sharing this fundraiser makes a difference.
Let’s make sure this mama doesn’t have to face this hardship alone. Let’s help her breathe a little easier, knowing that her community has her back.
With love and gratitude,
Michelle
