Hi folks! I’m Sally. I created this go fund me because I desperately need help to support a close friend and her children.

She is a single mother to two children and is an immigrant to this country. She is currently going through the asylum process. For safety reasons, I am limited in the amount of information I am willing to share but I can say her story of what they went through, both before they left their native country and what they endured to physically get here, would bring most of us to tears.

Last year, our current administration changed the eligibility for asylum, which excludes most threats of violence claims, including domestic violence. This now puts her entire application in jeopardy.

However, that is not even the reason I am asking for help. Currently, my friend and her children are in an unsafe living situation. They share an apartment with a woman roommate who has become violent towards my friend, physically attacking her in front of her children on multiple occasions. For obvious reason, my friend was not comfortable calling police, even though she has legal status while she awaits the outcome of her asylum process. They have stayed with me several times when things got really bad, but have always needed to go back. The roommate is also refusing to pay her full share of rent and utilities.

I have been doing my best to help financially, but I simply do not have enough money to get them out of this. All I have been able to do is make sure they don’t lose their housing right now, and are able to eat, but I literally cannot afford to do this for much longer.
