A talented San Jose student needs help to keep his home and his future. In the San Jose community, a talented high school student, a little girl, and an immigrant single mother are on the edge of homelessness.

How You Can Help: I am organizing a fundraiser for the family of a close friend, whom I have known for two years. Funds will go directly to urgent expenses: housing costs and essential daily bills.For privacy and safety reasons, they have asked to be anonymous.

The Situation: The mother, a first-generation immigrant, is experiencing a difficult divorce. Right now, the court has not yet finalized the child support and the distribution of assets. This decision takes months and even years. Without this support, their family is left with not enough income to cover spending for the mother and her two children. They are at risk of being homeless. She is currently having trouble finding a job that will support them in San Jose as a first-generation immigrant.

The Impact on the Children: My close friend was able to get into a prestigious music program called the California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra. Because of financial issues, he is not able to join this program. This is heartbreaking for him since he is really passionate about music. He has told me many times that music is something that he will never give up on. His little sister is similarly extremely passionate about piano. However, she has to stop it completely.

My close friend has always been the one who looks out for others. Now his family is going through their hardest financial moment and needs help. If you can help in any way, even if it's at the cost of a meal or simply spreading the word, it helps a lot.
