Help a Retired USMC Veteran get a new roof
Good day friends. My name is William Sanford and I am the owner of White Pickett Fences, LLC Handyman Services in Jacksonville, NC. I am a retired USMC veteran . About 7 months ago a 77 year old retired USMC Vietnam veteran, who has lived in the same home since 1984, contacted me to help with some repairs. Upon initial assessment his home was completely in pieces still from Hurricane Florence in September of 2019. His home roof leaked and ultimately inundated his home with water damage leading to mold growth. ServPro gutted the home and he moved into a hotel. He hired a recommended “handyman” to rebuild his home. This “handyman” ripped off an elderly veteran, which I could not allow. I recommended the home owner fire the “handyman” and allow me to assist in getting him back into his home. About 2 months later I have his home 80% complete and he moved back in. This is where we are at now - June 2020. His home is a shrine to his late wife. I genuinely care for this man and want to help where I can.
Here is the latest problem, His insurance claim did not cover a new roof - just repairs. Well, the Repairs were done by the former “handyman”, but I continue to chase leaks so all the work on the interior is not ruined. This morning I completely covered his roof in blue tarps (pictures) after a down pour last night. Yes, you guessed itthe roof leaked again! This home owner is a proud man, but money is tight being on a fixed income and insurance funds have run dry. He deserves a new roof. Please donate what you can for materials. I will volunteer my time to replace the roof. Help a veteran!
