Hey there, Akki here again. That's my mom at work in the photo. (I didn't have another photo with the two of us and couldn't ask for a selfie otherwise she'd know I'm up to something.) If you know who I am, then you know this is not like me to be constantly asking for help and I would never lie about something like this. If you know my mom, or have ever interacted with her, you'd know that her friendly personality is true to herself -- but she'd never want to put her problems on other people like this, and neither would I. But I have to swallow my pride; we seriously need help this time.
I'll try to keep this short and sweet -- we have outstanding credit card debt that is making it extremely hard to live and need them paid off ASAP.
Here's the breakdown:
Discover (Mom's): $5,000
Capitol One (Mom's): $4,000
Chase (Mine): $8,000
She is the only one working as of right now I have been laid off since May of this year with no one even seeming to be willing to give me a chance at work no matter how many applications I put in. I do freelance artwork on the side but barely anyone is commissioning me so I can't really live that way either. I'm supposed to be on SNAP right now but my application is currently in limbo. Not to mention my mom needing to clear about $3k/month to keep living in our house and I am still trying to recover from our a/c unit breaking in the middle of the East Coast Heat Wave which forced me to put an additional $500 on my credit card to fix it after 3 days of 90F internal heat. If anyone wants proof for bills please just ask and I will provide. I am struggling. We are struggling.
I just want to stop going downstairs every night to her crying because she can't pay bills. I would love to be able to eliminate her debt even if that means I have to struggle to figure out my own. 2025 has been the absolute worst year of my life with the 3-in-1 breakup/job loss/family death combo. I just want some relief.
Thank you for reading.
