Help a Queer Asylum Seeker Stay Housed
Donation protected
Update— February 17th, 2025
From Dmitri:
Thank you so much to everyone who donated! This young adult was able to pay all rent and bills for February and is at present safe, fed, and housed.
He is continuing to work at his new job, but is not getting enough hours to make rent, so he is continuing to look for additional work while we both explore employment and education opportunities for him.
Currently he does not have anything to put towards March rent or utilities (ConEd, internet, phone bill) as what little he has earned over the last three weeks at his new job has gone towards food and cost of living.
We need help for one more month.
Here is what the money will go towards:
Rent- $800
Internet- $25
Electric- $25
Phone bill- $65
Half price metro card- $66
Groceries- $50
We are hoping by March this young asylum seeker will have secured a second job, more funding, or hopefully both!

Hi all,
I am fundraising on behalf of a young queer asylum seeker. This young person has received their work authorization and started a new job! However, they will not be able to earn enough money to pay their February rent by the end of January.
Their rent is $800. I hope we can help them raise that amount, and if we manage to surpass that goal, additional funds will go towards their utilities ($50), food, and metro card, so they can keep commuting to work.
I have been supporting them financially as much as I can, but I am recovering from a surgery so my own work ability has been limited, and so I am reaching out to the community to help bridge the gap.
In light of our current administration I am keeping details about this queer asylum seeker private, but please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
I hope in this daunting time we can come together to support vulnerable members of our communities. We are stronger together. <3
In solidarity,
Dmitri
