Hi! I have a co-worker who is a fellow early childhood educator as well as a cancer survivor. This co-worker has fallen on hard times. Last year, a hurricane destroyed her home, leaving her and her daughter unhoused since October of 2024. My co-worker is a hardworking teacher who, even through these tough times, continues to put her all into these young children. She shows up every day with a good attitude and will pray for others at any chance she gets.

This amazing woman and her daughter have all their possessions in their car, as she works a full-time job and the daughter works and attends college. They budget every penny they earn, but some days there isn't enough money for food because gas is more of a priority at the moment, as it is what gets her and her daughter to and from work, and it's what gets them to a safer place at night to sleep. A gym membership is what gives them a place to shower.

This story is heartbreaking. Please help this teacher and her daughter, if you are able, to get back into a home. The love and dedication she provides to young children should be rewarded. My co-worker deserves to place her head on a warm pillow in a bed without fear of what else may happen while waiting for a miracle. She is extremely embarrassed by the situation she's fallen into, so I'm reaching out asking for help for her, as she doesn't feel as though she can.
