This fundraiser is for a strong and loving mum here in Townsville who has recently escaped domestic violence. She is currently living in shelter accommodation with her young child and is expecting her second baby any day now.

Despite all she’s been through, and losing all of her material things, she continues to show up with courage.

She’s doing her best to rebuild her life, but the costs of groceries, transport, housing, transport and birth-related care are heavy. She dreams of being able to access respectful, nurturing midwifery care to support her through birth and the early postpartum period, care that honours her and her baby’s wellbeing after everything they’ve been through. This mum would like to limit her interaction with men during this period of time. Mum has already attempted to receive continuity of care through government funded programs but has been rejected.

With a little community support, we can help ease the burden and make this dream possible.
