This fundraiser is for a Palestinian family of 6 - Salem and his Mom, Dad and three siblings - who arrived in Canada roughly a year ago through one of the limited visa programs made available to people from Gaza. Only around 880 of these visas were issued, and this family of 6 was among the few who made it here.

Four family members are currently living in Oakville, Ontario, while one lives in Vancouver and works as a dental assistant. Before their visas reach expiration, they’re applying for asylum—a process that costs roughly $3,000 in legal fees.

Their three working children are doing everything they can to cover these costs, but we’re hoping to raise $5,000 to help them through this critical time for legal fees plus additional expenses for documentation and basic living costs. Two of the children speak English and are eager to continue building a stable, meaningful life here in Canada.
