My ex-partner raped me on my son's birthday almost two years after separation.

Saying that aloud is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done—but staying silent would be even harder. Since the assault, my world has completely changed. I’ve lost income, emotional stability, and the simple sense of safety.

Now I’m fighting for justice. But what I didn’t expect is just how broken that road would be.

The legal system is not built to protect survivors—it’s built to break us down. To tell our stories over and over while doubting every word. To make us prove our trauma like we’re on trial. To face our abuser and relive the worst moment of our lives just to be heard, let alone believed.

Without legal representation, I don’t stand a chance. That’s the reality for so many women like me. Justice shouldn't be a privilege only afforded by those with money—but right now, that’s exactly what it feels like.
