Help a Mother Fight for Her Son’s Freedom
My heart is broken. My son—my firstborn, my pride, and the one who made me a mother 29 years ago—is facing the fight of his life. He’s being held without bail, accused of crimes he didn’t commit. These charges stem from years ago, and the circumstances are devastating.
After a messy breakup with a vengeful ex, my son loaned his vehicle to someone he trusted—someone who used it for illegal purposes. He didn’t know. Fear and anxiety stopped him from confronting the charges when they first surfaced, and warrants were issued as a result. Now, he’s paying the price for mistakes he didn’t make.
On the morning of November 26th, just two days before Thanksgiving, our lives were shattered. A dozen federal agents came to our home at 6:30 a.m., rifles drawn, and took my son away. Watching that unfold—seeing my family treated like criminals—was one of the most traumatic moments of my life.
He spent nearly a month at Rikers Island, enduring horrific conditions, before being extradited to Oregon just days before Christmas. The holiday season was unbearable. Instead of celebrating with my family, I was left with an empty chair at the table and a broken heart.
I am a widowed hospice nurse. I have spent my life caring for others in their most vulnerable moments, but now I’m the one in need of help. My resources are limited, and the legal costs to fight for my son’s freedom are overwhelming. I’ve spoken to over a dozen attorneys, and their quotes range from $15,000 to $160,000, with most falling around $80,000. I found a good attorney that agreed to take case for 20,000. This is beyond my budget, my daughter is in college and my income is humble.
I’m asking for help not just as a nurse, a widow, or a mother—but as someone who believes in justice. My son is innocent. He doesn’t deserve this, and I won’t stop fighting until he’s home & safe where he belongs.
If you can donate, please know that every dollar will go directly to his legal defense. And if you can’t, please share our story with others. Your support—financially or through spreading the word—means everything to me and my family.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us in this dark time. With your help, we can bring my son home.
From the bottom of my heart,
A grieving but determined mother
