This fund has been set up to help a young mother, father and daughter so they can hire an attorney to prepare their asylum case and represent them in immigration court.
 
In 2019, I befriended a young mother who fled Honduras with her three-year old daughter because of extreme poverty, domestic abuse, gangs and violence.
 
The suffering and social injustices they have endured are heart wrenching.
 
And now, they risk deportation because our current system makes it nearly impossible to be granted asylum without having legal representation.
 
Please, if at any point over the last few years, you’ve been troubled by the atrocities directed towards asylum seekers in our country and those neighboring us…consider making a donation to help this family. They want to stay in the United States, work here legally, and be given the opportunity to pursue happiness. Any amount will help.
 
If you still aren’t sure you want to help, ask yourself these questions:
 
What would you do, and how far would you go to keep your child safe?
 
Would you walk three thousand miles with only the barest essentials stuffed into a backpack to help you survive?
 
Would you sleep on the streets and beg strangers for food and water?
 
Would you live in a Mexican prison for months, hoping and praying that you might be granted asylum in a country where your daughter has the opportunity to grow up without being raped or abused?
 
These were all better alternatives to this mother who felt she had no other option but to leave her country.
