Hi. I'm the mom of two kids who will be moving out of the US in a month and I'm looking for your help to raise funds so that I can meet the financial requirements on the VISA application to join them and be able to start over.
My son is autistic and has epilepsy. He's going so he can be in a safer environment and can get more access to support. My daughter has anxiety and dyslexia and is going so she can feel safe enough to attend high school in person and get the support she needs. Their other mother and myself are divorced LGBTQ+ parents also seeking safety.
The small business I've run for 7 years has been under threat since the anti-DEI movement began and is now on track to get shut down. My work centers on teaching companies how to be safe work environments for everyone. My kids and my passion for social justice are my motivations.
I'm also in the process of filing personal bankruptcy because I have given my all to fund the business and survive. But there's too much fear right now from companies to support small businesses like mine, even if it's exactly the kind of support they need the most.
So, I'm humbly coming to you, the community, for help. I've already cut everything I can, including moving into a friend's living room to save on rent.
As part of the VISA application to join my kids, I have to show a sustainable amount of cash to live and the ability to work - that's why the goal is set where it is. I have a small online teaching job that pays me $1,000 a month. That's obviously not enough to live on in the U.S. and is below the financial threshold for the VISA application.
With the money you donate, you will be giving me a chance to file my VISA application, rebuild, and start over. You will be reuniting a mom with her kids and funding a new life for all of us. I plan on starting a new small business where my work will not be threatened by the current regime and I will be able to help more people feel safe at work every day in a new way.
I will be forever grateful that at my lowest point, when my pride and ego are the most bruised, when I've cried with hope believing I will be with my kids again soon, that it was you who stepped up and made this happen for us. And I will pay it forward once I get back on my feet. And you would've helped me do that. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
