Hi, I would like to start off by telling y'all a little about myself. I lived in Baltimore, Maryland my entire life. I never thought I would ever need a GoFundMe for anything. I worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Baltimore branch, for almost 10 years. I also was a cook for the Pier 5 Hotel on the waterfront.
So, I'm humbly asking for help because on Friday, 3/7/25, around 3:40 am, I was woken up to the smell of smoke. I decided to get dressed and go see what was going on. Everyone else was sleeping. Then, I walked to the top of the steps and saw a bright light flashing through the window of the door. I then went downstairs, opened the door to the fire department and police telling me to get my family out. The fire was spreading fast. So I did what any mom would do. I was yelling, 'Get up, get dressed quickly, grab your coat and shoes, and go! It's a fire coming.' They were able to grab their wallets with their IDs. I forgot my shoes and purse, which had my ID, social security cards, and birth certificates. The whole apartment literally collapsed. We were displaced. This saddens me to my whole heart as a mom of 3.
So, I'm asking for any donations that y'all can spare to help us get some of the things that were lost. My 11-year-old's school clothes and a little school supplies. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for even taking the time out to read this.
