I am a mom of three boys, and we are starting over after fleeing an extremely abusive relationship. Just two days before Thanksgiving, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and ask my husband to leave our home. The reasons are too painful and graphic to share, but we are now safe and together. My boys and I have endured a year of domestic violence, and despite my efforts to protect them, we have faced unimaginable challenges. I tried to leave before, but his wealthy family and legal threats made it impossible. I stayed, hoping to shield my children from more harm, but the abuse continued. Now, with the holidays here, I am struggling to provide even the basics. Our credit cards are maxed out, and I worry about keeping up with bills and giving my boys the Christmas they deserve. My oldest, 15, loves music and plays in the marching band. My 11-year-old is creative and loves to draw, while my youngest, just 5, is still recovering from the stress and clings to me for comfort. They are my world, and they deserve joy and hope this season. The beginning of escaping an abusive relationship is the most dangerous and uncertain. I am asking for help to keep my family safe, to give my boys a Christmas tree and a few gifts, and to help us rebuild our lives free from fear. Anything you can give will make a difference.
