Help a Middletown Mother Battling Cancer and Eviction

My name is Liana Kato Lansigan, and I’m organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of Megan and her kids, Joey, Sarina, and Mikey. Along with many other Wesleyan students, I have been lucky to get to know Megan and her kids through working at the after-school program in the Traverse Square neighborhood.

The past year has been extremely difficult for Megan’s family. One year ago, Megan’s husband, Mike, a dedicated father to their children, passed away suddenly. His death was a devastating loss for their family and our community. One month later, Megan was diagnosed with cancer, and her kids, who had just lost their dad, were unsure if they were going to lose their mom, too. Despite these tragedies, Megan has stayed strong for her kids. She tells them, “Mommy isn’t going anywhere, and just like Mommy, you’re tough.” Megan has since undergone chemotherapy and surgery. She recently suffered a fall and needed to go to the emergency room, leaving her bedridden and unable to work.

In the wake of these events, Megan needs to take time for herself and her family to heal. Her recent illness and injuries have prevented her from being able to financially support her children, and she needs our help. She is requesting support for rent, groceries, and repairing her car. Coverage of rent is an urgent need because their family has been unable to pay rent for the past couple of months. We aim to raise $10,000 to ensure Megan’s family has housing stability and gets the rest and family time they deserve. Please give what you can and share widely. Thank you for your support!
