Stand with Dell Robinson for Fair Custody Rights

If you know him, you love him. And if you’ve ever been “stabbed by Dell,” you probably loved that too.

Dell America Robinson is a devoted dad of three amazing kids—Kai (7), Atlas (4), and Kamryn (2). He’s also a much-loved small business owner and professional body piercer in Vermont. He's also a military veteran who served during Hurricane Katrina and helped with rescue efforts in New Orleans. Known for his steady hands, huge heart, and truly awful (read: excellent) dad jokes, Dell has spent years building a life rooted in love, connection, and care.

Now Dell and his kids need our help.

Their lives were turned upside down by a devastating custody ruling. Despite being a loving, stable, and deeply involved father, Dell was stripped of his parental rights in a legal decision that makes no sense—and could cause serious harm to his kids.

Here’s what happened: The court acknowledged that Dell should be the primary parent. And yet, it awarded primary custody to the children’s mother, who is now allowed to move them out of state to live with a man they barely know—a man she met just a few months before becoming pregnant again. The children, who are thriving in their home here in the Upper Valley—with their school, their daycare, their friends, and their loving stepmom Jaclyn—are now being uprooted from everything they know and love.

Why? Because Vermont law doesn’t require the court to start with equal custody. In fact, when parents can’t agree, the law says the court must choose one parent to have primary or sole custody—even when both parents are fit, willing, and actively involved. It’s a deeply flawed system, and in this case, it got it very wrong.

But if you know Dell, you know one thing: he doesn’t give up.

He’s appealing the decision—and in a huge step forward, the Vermont Supreme Court has agreed to hear his case. This is Dell’s chance to fight for his kids, for fairness, and for a better system. But legal fees are expensive, and he can’t do it alone.

This isn’t just about one dad—it’s about challenging a broken system that too often assumes moms should automatically have primary custody, even when it’s not what’s best for the kids. It’s about standing up for all parents—mothers, fathers, and caregivers—who show up every day for their children with love, stability, and commitment.

Dell’s home is full of love, laughter, safety, and yes—plenty of bad puns. He’s not just fighting for his own children—he’s fighting for what’s right.

Let’s help him keep going.
Let's support their kids to stay close to their loving father.
And let’s push for change—so this doesn’t happen to another family.

Every dollar goes toward legal fees for the Supreme Court appeal.
Every share helps raise awareness.

STAY TUNED!!! We plan to add a petition that supports a call for Vermont to adopt 50/50 shared custody as the default when both parents are fit and present—because kids deserve both parents, when both parents are ready to show up for them.

Let’s rewrite this story—not just for Dell, but for every child, parent, and family caught in an unfair system.
