I’m writing on behalf of my dear friends, John and Becky, two of the most compassionate and selfless people I know. They’ve opened their hearts and home to three adopted children, creating a family built on love, faith, and endless perseverance.
Right now, they’re facing a heartbreaking crisis with their 15-year-old son — a once tender-hearted boy who has been struggling with serious emotional and behavioral challenges for several years. These challenges have recently escalated to the point that he’s completely withdrawn from the world.
He hasn’t stepped outside in weeks. He rarely speaks, doesn’t attend school, and spends most of his time isolated in his room.
His parents have done everything possible — therapy, counseling, medical intervention, school support, and even hospitalization — but nothing has provided the breakthrough he needs. He’s been diagnosed with multiple complex behavioral and developmental disorders — including oppositional and attachment-related conditions — that have made it nearly impossible for him to connect, communicate, or function in a normal home or school setting.
This isn’t defiance or rebellion. It’s a young man trapped in his own pain, unable to understand or control what’s happening inside him. And it’s a family living in quiet heartbreak — doing everything humanly possible to help him find his way back.
After countless sleepless nights and professional consultations, John and Becky have found a residential program that offers the therapy, structure, and specialized education their son desperately needs. Doctors believe this is his best — and perhaps only — chance to heal and reconnect.
Unfortunately, insurance covers only a small portion of the cost, and the full program requires many months of care. The estimated total exceeds $85,000, with insurance contributing for only the first few weeks. To make this possible, the family must raise $20,000 to help cover specialized transportation and the uncovered portion of his care.
This family has never asked for help before — but now they truly need it.
How You Can Help
Every dollar truly counts. Your donation will go directly toward:
• The specialized treatment program that can help this young man recover
• Professional transportation to safely get him to care
• Support for the family as they navigate this incredibly difficult chapter
Even a small contribution will help this family take one step closer to hope — one step closer to bringing their son back into the light.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this story. Awareness and kindness go a long way. Together, we can help this family find healing, hope, and the strength to keep going.
From the bottom of my heart, and with great thanks,
Christine
