We’re reaching out on behalf of a resilient and loving family facing unimaginable challenges. In June of 2023, Amy and Scotty McCandless were the victims of an attempted murder — both sustaining gunshot wounds to the head before their vehicle was involved in a roll-over crash. Though they miraculously survived, the incident left them with permanent disabilities. In an instant, their lives changed — physically, emotionally, and financially.

Once hardworking and self-sufficient business owners, they now struggle to support themselves due to injuries that prevent them from working. Despite these daily hardships, they remain devoted parents to their incredible children, who have shown strength, maturity, and compassion beyond their years.

Brody, Bristol, Kai, and Tayden have stepped up in ways no child should have to — supporting their parents through recovery, maintaining strong sibling bonds, and excelling in school. Amy and Scotty long to give them the carefree summer they deserve: full of camps, activities, and adventures. But financial limitations and the stress of an ongoing legal battle make that dream feel out of reach. With court dates approaching and subpoenas being delivered regularly, the emotional toll continues to weigh heavily on the family.

This summer, the kids have one simple wish: to take a family trip and visit Busch Gardens. Just a few days to be kids again — to laugh, to play, and to escape, if only briefly, from the weight they carry. With your help, we can make that wish come true.
