Help a Local Stratford Vetaran

Donation protected

My name is Alexander Mazzei, and I just started working for Stratford's Little Italy "La Fortuna Bar and Restaurant" as the social media manager.

We received a message from a local veteran who has been struggling for the past 2 years. After a deer took his jeep, he lost his only form of transportation. Shortly after losing his jeep, his cat died and he was left alone in his stepmother's house for the last 2 years.

He rolls around to the VA hospital in an electric wheelchair because they only can do so many surgeries and Joe's problems aren't a priority for the VA Hospital.

Joe was scanning some of our posts on Facebook and reached out to us, and shared a little about his story. When I brought it to the attention of the owner, he originally said let us just send him his favorite meal, But when I found out that he was stationed over in Italy and had some amazing memories there, I wanted to see if there was any way to push to get him to enjoy a meal at our restaurant.

Joe shared his phone number with us and I gave him a call to let him know that we were going to be coming to pick him up with a van and bringing him to the restaurant. He was speechless and continued to show his gratitude. He continued to share with us that he hasn't left he house in over 2 years. It broke my heart and I wanted to see if others felt the same way. I wanted to start this page in a selfless gesture to help a guy who served for our country. I wanna see if we can share some love, bless this man and give him hope that there is still kindness in this world, especially locally.
