Help us right a wrong for Chesterton resident
Donation protected
Chesterton has always been a safe place and nowhere is that safety more evident than in The Red Cup on Broadway directly downtown. Laura, the owner and proprietor would have it no other way.
However, last week, someone (and I loathe to think it was anyone from our very own community) stole $1200 in cash out of a beloved, local piano teachers purse as she stopped in to purchase cookies to donate to nurses at a local hospital. She was donating these cookies to these nurses because they were working on the same floor that her ailing husband was a patient. This couple who are long time Chesterton residents are known for their countless acts of kindness and large, loving personalities. This kind lady had the stolen money inside of her purse, as the $1200 was from numerous piano lessons she provides the youth in our area and she hadn't had time to deposit it into her bank account due to her tending to her husband on a daily basis.
The Chesterton, FOP # 141 President, Detective Chris Schoof, has agreed to donate $500 towards the reimbursement of sorely needed funds from the FOP # 141. While the FOP doesn't usually get involved in matters like this, the lodge would be remiss if we didn't recognize the pureness of a piano teacher instructing our youth to learn a musical instrument being put into such a terrible predicament.
Laura, the owner of Red Cup, myself, and Detective Chris Schoof, have also organize this go fund me to raise the remaining $700 in hopes that the good people of Chesterton and the surrounding communities see a wrong and want to right it.
The couple themselves is unaware of our efforts to raise money as they would refuse to help, but they would benefit greatly in seeing the funds returned. The case is still under investigation, but in the meantime all involved want to help ease the mind of our beloved, piano teacher.
Please consider donating to this go fund me.
However, if you are uncomfortable with donating through this platform, there's also a collection jar at Red Cup!
Thank you!
