We’re Dads of NWA, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Northwest Arkansas with nearly 7,000 members. Our mission is simple: support dads, families, and our community. We receive requests for help every week—and while we can’t always respond to every need due to limited resources, sometimes a situation arises that we simply cannot turn away from.

This is one of those times.

A few weeks ago, we received a message from a member asking for help fixing a plumbing issue at his father’s house. What started as a routine request turned into something truly heartbreaking.

What We Discovered:

When one of our members—an experienced plumber—visited the home, he was met with horrific conditions:

No working toilet for 3 years

Roaches, spiders, and filth throughout the home

Black mold and leaking sewage

Children forced to clean out a toilet with a shop vac

No food in the house

And most tragically, credible reports of physical and emotional abuse

The children in the home—four siblings ages 8 to 15, including one with autism—had endured years of neglect and abuse. Following calls to DHS and the local police, the parents were arrested and charged. The children were removed and placed into state custody.

An Act of Courage and Love:

Without hesitation, their older brother and dad in our community—already a father of three—stepped in to take custody of all four siblings. He refused to let them be separated by the system. Overnight, his household grew from 5 to 9 people.

Since then, he and his wife have done everything in their power to provide a safe, loving, and stable home. They’ve purchased beds, clothes, and stocked up on food—draining their savings in the process. His wife had to quit her job to care for the kids full-time. He switched jobs to earn more and is now seeking a second full-time job.

They’re doing everything right. But right now, they're stuck between paychecks and urgently need help covering:

Rent and utilities

Groceries

Additional clothing for the kids

Basic household necessities

This family stepped up when no one else could. Now they need a community to step up for them.

Our Goal: $10,000

Every dollar raised will go directly to helping this family get through this transition period and stabilize their home. As always, Dads of NWA has personally verified this story—speaking directly with those involved.

This isn’t just about bills. It’s about giving seven children a chance at a better life—a real home, with people who love and protect them.
