Help a local food bank in a needy part of Croydon

We are a volunteer-run food bank in a disadvantaged area of Croydon (South London). We have been serving fresh food to local people in need for around four years. Since the pandemic started, we have expanded our operation to deliver food to shielded and shut-in people and families.

At the height of lockdown 1 we were delivering to 180 households per week and operating 6 days a week. We have been able to cut this down a lot, but with lockdown 3 we are now in more demand again and there is less funding around to help.

We urgently need money to run our van (collecting food from supermarkets most days of the week), buying PPE and cleaning materials and paying for waste and recycled packaging to be removed. All of these are things we cannot operate without!

We cannot afford to stop our service as we now have clients who depend on us to support their need for fresh food each week and are unable to either pay for or get out and buy their own. We are expecting a high demand for our service to extend for most of this new year (2021)

We are hugely grateful for all help we receive as we head into 2021 with us and our clients still under severe restrictions and so many households and children still in need!
