A close friend reached out to Checkmates Charitable Association asking for help during an extremely difficult time.

Because of the sensitive circumstances involved, we are protecting the identity of the person and their children. This is someone we personally know, and the need is very real.

This family is facing the possibility of homelessness and has very limited resources available to them right now.

Although this situation falls outside the traditional mission of Checkmates, when someone we know is facing a crisis like this, I cannot simply turn away.

Funds raised will be used to help provide immediate stability, including housing expenses, a security deposit or temporary housing, utilities, food, transportation, and other essential needs.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser can make an enormous difference as well.

We are committed to being transparent while also respecting the privacy of the family involved. We would not be asking for help publicly if the situation were not genuine and urgent.
