The Northeast L.A. Local (NELo) of the Los Angeles Tenants Union (LATU) is fundraising to support one of our members in Eagle Rock, Helen Quintero. Helen is an 84-year-old Los Angeles native whose landlord is trying to evict her ILLEGALLY by falsely claiming that Helen is a “threat” to her neighbors. We repeat, Helen is 84 years old and uses a wheelchair—what kind of “threat” could she possibly pose? This is an obvious example of landlord harassment and elder abuse, yet another instance of how landlords are trying to make profits by socially cleansing our neighborhoods.
Please help us raise funds to pay for Helen’s legal fees. We have an attorney who has agreed to take the case, but we have to gather $750 to make that possible. PLEASE DONATE WHATEVER YOU CAN TO KEEP HELEN IN HER HOME.
Any funds beyond the target amount will be kept to support other members of the L.A. Tenants Union with legal fees and/or other urgent needs.
