Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

My name is Suhailah Umm Umayr from the United States, and I’m reaching out on behalf of a dear sister in Gaza, my friend Tohfa Al Hato, who is a widowed mother of four young children— Suhail, Juwan, Azad and Ayan, aged 8, 5, 4, and just 10 months old. I’ve known this family and their struggles for over a year now, and I can personally verify that their situation is real and deeply urgent.

Her husband, Muhammad, passed away in Gaza while trying to provide for his family— may Allah accept him as a martyr. Since then, she has been left to care for four orphans in unimaginable circumstances.

Despite her hardships, she has been extremely reluctant to ask for help. When she initially did, she was taken advantage of, and the money meant to support her children as she was about to give birth was stolen by the very person who offered to help. Muhammad lost his life trying to make that money for his family. Even now, she only accepted my assistance after much reassurance and insistence.

Her youngest baby is just a year old. Clothing, diapers, and other essentials have become unaffordable costing upward of $100; prices have quadrupled, and a 2 lb bag of flour now costs nearly $30 USD in South Gaza, where they are displaced to.

She is presently displaced to the South with her four children, living in a tent outside an orphanage and sharing a communal latrine. The winter brings cold and heavy rains that soak their belongings and make their tent uninhabitable. Her home was severely damaged by bombing and requires extensive repairs.

Please help however you can. If you are unable to donate, please share and offer dua. This is a Muslim family, in real crisis.

Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Myself and the caretaker of an orphan will be in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together.

Jazakum Allahu khayran for your support, and may Allah alleviate the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Gaza and grant them relief.
