Help a Good Man Escape His Captor

Ray “'Sonny”' Davis is currently sequestered in his apartment in the Republic of Panama, being held by a woman who claims to be his wife. This woman, named Minsi, and those she is working with are attempting to illegally seize his property and possessions. Their goal is to maintain control of Sonny until they get control of all his property through false property documents, false marriage certificate and false guardianship using all nefarious and illegal means necessary, including bribery.

Sonny grew up in Old Hickory, TN with a large family and friends, all of whom wish to see him returned to the United States. He is a veteran and served his country for over a year while deployed in Vietnam during the height of the conflict.

Sonny worked hard his entire life; he started a business a few years after his service in the army. He worked long hours 6 days a week for 25 years. When he decided to retire, he committed to moving to a place where, in his words, he “would not have to own a coat”. Sonny does not like cold weather. Sonny decided to move to the Republic of Panama.

He sold his business and proceeded to purchase an apartment in downtown Panama City. He lived alone in Panama for about 12 years. In September 2021 he suffered a severe stroke.
After several weeks in the hospital, he recovered enough to return to his apartment but required 24-hour care. The stroke affected his mobility and ability to speak (specifically Spanish which he learned during his years in Panama). To improve communication with his caregivers, Sonny contacted a woman he had previously met, who also lived in Panama City, and offered her a generous weekly payment to act as his interpreter, to run errands/shopping and assist with day to day chores. This woman (Minsi) was destitute before Sonny asked her for his help. Very quickly she realized that she could take advantage of Sonny’s unfortunate situation.

Over weeks, Minsi gained access to his bank accounts in Panama and has used his money not only for her own personal purchases but also to recruit others into her scam. She had his original caretakers replaced with her own people, who are not qualified to provide proper medical care to Sonny.
Due to this negligent care, Sonny suffered another more serious stroke on March 31, 2022, and was readmitted to the hospital. The stroke left him unable to speak, move or communicate in any way. Basically, in a semi-comatose state, receiving sustenance through a feeding tube into his stomach.

Minsi, with the help of her fellow thieves, forged legal documents, claiming to be the wife of Sonny. Despite the stern objections of the attending physician at the hospital, she was able to use the fake documents to secure the release of Sonny from the hospital and return him to his apartment under her negligent care.

One of the legal documents in question, a forged marriage license, was dated April 25, 2022. The notary who authorized the marriage stated that Sonny walked into the office, answered questions and used his finger print to sign documents on April 25th. Per the hospital records, Sonny was not capable of walking or talking when he was discharged from the hospital on April 22nd.

Since his discharge from the hospital over 4 months ago, Steve Dukic (Sonny's cousin) has seen Sonny twice for about 45 minutes (each visit Steve was accompanying a court ordered social worker). Currently, Minsi will not allow anyone, other than her people, entry into his apartment.

There are several criminal complaints filed against the woman and her cohorts by attorneys hired to prosecute the woman and all involved with her through the legal system in Panama. The proceedings are currently ongoing. Steve has been to and will continue to go to Panama to assist the attorneys and appear in court/hearing on Sonny's behalf.

Our goal is to continue the legal battle in Panama and to gain guardianship of Sonny. Once we have gained guardianship over Sonny, he will be brought back to the United States for medical treatment. We hope this treatment can return to him his ability to communicate. Regardless, he will be cared for by his family and friends who wish to see him live in comfort as best he can rather than with an evil opportunist who wants to bleed every dollar from him before letting him die in misery.

Any funds received will go towards legal fees to gain guardianship over Sonny, medical treatment/care and airfare to bring Sonny back home.
Thank you for your time and please consider helping Ray “Sonny” Davis.

He is a good man with a good heart who worked a lifetime looking forward to his retirement only to be kidnapped and abused by a person to whom he showed generosity and compassion.

God Bless.
