Help a friend pay the NHS Immigration Health Surcharge Fee
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
We are doing this fundraiser to help a friend in our community raise funds to pay for
the NHS Immigration Health Surcharge to get an extension to their residence permit.
Their current visa expires end of September 2024 and it’s a pre-requisite to pay a fee
of over £2k to cover for a 2-year visa extension.
The surcharge was introduced in April 2015 by the Conservative government, under
a power granted by the Immigration Act 2014. The government said the purpose was
to “ensure that migrants make a proper financial contribution to the cost of their NHS
care” (in addition to their contribution as UK tax and National Insurance payers).
Our friend has previously worked for a charity in the community healthcare sector but
is currently unemployed and looking for work after their fixed term contract with the
charity ended.
It would also really help if you could share this fundraiser link with everyone you
know. The more eyes on this fundraiser, the better!
We appreciate all your support and we wouldn’t be able to accomplish our fundraising goal
without your help.
Thank you!
