Help a Father of 4 recover his home and livelihood
Donation protected
I never knew the genuine meaning of a natural disaster and the immediate devastation it causes until Helene hit Western North Carolina this weekend. I thought I understood, but never thought I would be writing about such heart-breaking, scary news.
This sweet mountain home (see picture) is where I grew up. My two older sisters, my younger brother, and I would explore through the mountains, play in the water, climb walls and trees, and become the people we are today. My father still lives here, and this is what it looks like now after a landslide took down much of the mountain Friday night. I am so happy that my Dad and his two cats and dog are okay! Everything else is gone though.
My Dad, father of four and a 23-year strong known local artist of Asheville, lost his entire livelihood/studio, supplies, and all art he had spent months working on to get through the winter. Everything washed away entirely. The only road getting off the mountain has been destroyed and wiped away, leaving his two cars and everything he may need stuck on the mountain with him. In this absolutely devastating event for our family, we are asking for any assistance possible. Please know that every little bit helps my Dad get down the mountain safely and back to his family. In this absolutely devastating event, our family is asking for more than just prayers right now. We need help.
