My name is Ryan. I’m a father to three beautiful children—two girls aged 9 and 7, and a little boy who is 3. They are the reason I keep moving forward. Today our bond is stronger than ever, but reaching this place has taken immense work, sacrifice, and courage.
I became homeless after battling addiction, unstable mental health, and overwhelming financial strain for many years. I was unable to cope with the life I was trying to hold together, and leaving my home was the hardest decision I have ever made. It devastated all of us—but it also gave me the space I needed to rebuild myself so I could one day be the father my children deserve.
Now, for the first time in my life, my mind is calm, clear, and focused. Staying sober is a daily commitment, and I work hard every single day to protect that progress. I attend regular support sessions, stay connected to my addiction and mental health teams, and surround myself with people who hold me accountable. I am determined not to repeat the mistakes of my past. My greatest fear is slipping backwards—and my greatest motivation is giving my children the stable, loving father they can rely on.
Right now, I am sleeping in my car through winter. I’m asking for help to secure a small home in my hometown, close to the support network that helps keep me strong. Funds will go toward a deposit, the first month’s rent, and essential items like beds, bedding, clothing for my children, and basic cooking equipment.
I’m also writing a book about my transformation, and I’d love to share the introduction as a thank-you to anyone who supports me. Every penny truly makes a difference—nothing is wasted, and everything brings me closer to building a safe future for my children.
