Family's Home and Livelihood Destroyed

Many families in Marion, Illinois were forever changed when an EF3 tornado tore through this area with devastating 165 mph winds. My family and I were not affected, but the man who has been mowing my lawn for the past 5 years was impacted. He reminds me of the honest, hardworking people I grew up with. Sunday, I received a message from him that broke my heart. The tornado had directly hit his property, destroying not just his family's home, but also the shop that houses his business. In an instant, everything he, his wife, and their son had built together was gone.

What touched me most was their resilience—in their message, they shared they'd be down for a while but promised to rebuild and never they asked for help. While I am sure they do have insurance, we all know how long that process can take, and immediate needs can't wait.
