In the early morning of October 7, 2025, our lives changed forever.

At 4:30 AM, our apartment in St. John’s went up in flames.

Within minutes, everything we owned was gone — our home, clothes, children’s toys, and even some important documents.

We are Ammar S. and Olha S. , a young family who came to Canada in 2023, full of hope for a better future.

Now, two years later, we must start over completely — from nothing.

Olha is nine months pregnant, soon to welcome our fourth child.

Our other children are 8, 5, and 3 years old.

That night, we escaped the fire barefoot, wearing only our pajamas.

We thank God we are alive — but we have lost everything else.

For now, we have temporary shelter from the Red Cross, but soon we will have nowhere to stay.

We have no relatives in Canada, no clothes, no bedding, and no essentials for our children or the baby on the way.
