Six months ago, a hardworking family of eight…Mom, Dad, and six young children, ages 15, 12, 7, 5, 3, and 1, finally got a chance at stability. After years of living in a small trailer, they moved into a beautiful three bedroom home.
I am the homeowner. A longtime client of their small contracting business. I had seen what an honest, kind, and selfless man the father was, and firmly believing the universe’s power to reward good people with good things, I offered the family the opportunity to stay in this home while working toward purchasing it. I wanted to give back to someone who had spent his life helping others.
But now, their dream is slipping away.
The family’s small contracting business, once thriving, has been devastated by the economy. As the community has struggled, so has their work. Despite their best efforts, jobs have slowed to a halt, and the family has fallen on hard times. The father has had to look for work elsewhere, drastically reducing their income and changing their ability to qualify for the home.
The original timeline of six months for the sale to go through, has come to an end, and the HOA will not allow “renters” to remain on the property. I simply cannot postpone the sale any longer. Between my own financial obligations, as well as the threat of daily fines and a possible lien from the HOA, regrettably, in just 30 days, this family will lose the home they love if we can’t find a way to help.
Their only housing option right now is a one room cabin with no walls, no electricity, and no way to keep six children safe and warm through the coming Oklahoma winter.
But it doesn’t have to end this way.
If 300,000 people gave just $1 each, this family could buy their home outright. A community keeping a promise of “Good things happen to good people”. For less than the cost of a cup of coffee, you can help be the difference between this family losing everything, and building a foundation of hope and security.
Every dollar, every share, and every act of compassion matters.
I know we are all struggling right now. I know nobody has an endless bank account balance. This will take a great community effort, and it’s no small thing that I’m asking.
This isn’t just about saving a house, it’s about saving a family’s future. Yes, I could simply sell the home to the next random buyer, but I would much rather see if we can collectively help this family save their dream.
Please, if you can, donate or share this campaign. Together, we can show that kindness still exists, and that no good deed truly goes unnoticed.
Thank you for helping me try to keep a well meant promise. Sometimes, the universe just needs a little help.
