In just minutes, everything changed for this family of five. What began as a few hours of heavy rain turned into a disaster no one could have prepared for. Entire blocks of their city were suddenly Flooded and underwater, including their home. The water came so quickly and with such force that it blew in their basement door and within minutes, the basement was completely flooded. The water rose so high it nearly reached the second floor, there was no time to save anything. The family had to flee with only the clothes on their backs.

Their newly renovated basement was not just a storage space. It was part of their home, filled with memories, personal belongings, a family room, and their teenage daughter’s newly renovated bedroom. She had just finished making that space her own, and now everything in it has been destroyed.

The damage to the home is severe and estimated at over 80 thousand dollars to be livable again. The power has been shut off due to the electrical pannel being submerged under water, making the house unlivable. The family has been displaced and is now without a home.

To make this even more heartbreaking, their insurance will not cover the damage because they did not have natural disaster coverage, something they wernt aware they didnt have.
