Help a Family Make a Safe Start

This baby's grandparents travelled to the U.S. from Honduras to seek safety for her, her mother, and her teenage aunts. The family was fleeing sexual violence and the destruction of their home, and have found safety in Los Angeles with sponsoring family members. Theirs is a story of love, family devotion, and resilience. The family of six slept for two months on the concrete at the base of the Brownsville, TX-Matamoros bridge, while U.S. border agents denied them access to present themselves for asylum. They since have entered the U.S. legally and are awaiting their asylum trials.

This fundraiser is to raise money for the grandmother and grandfather to cook and sell food in the Los Angeles area, to try and help support their family and contribute to their sponsors' household costs. This is also what the family did for a living back in Honduras. They have estimated the start-up costs for food preparation, serving, and storage supplies.
