Help a family in need in Palestine

Imagine living in a small village in a brick house with no windows or doors. Barely making enough money to feed your 5 children. Every year, you look up and hope to be able to make just a little bit more money to afford putting in windows and a front door, but that day has not yet come. Then months turn into years, and your front door is still covered by a blanket... draped from top to bottom.

I grew up in Palestine, in a Village named Huwara where work opportunities are hard to come by. My family was fortunate to have the opportunity to come to the U.S and build a better life. I still have aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Huwara and we talk to them regularly. Recently, I was visiting my mom when she brought up this story of the family living in a house that is a barebones structure with no windows or front door. They have to use blankets to cover their front door and windows. The house doesn't have any doors inside either, not even on the bathroom. My mom felt so sad and helpless for them that she was going to go so far as to take out a loan to help them finish their house so that it is in liveable condition. I could not sleep thinking about their living situation and how we can help them. 

That is when I thought of the gofundme platform, and how if enough people came together, we can help this family without burdening ourselves. My goal is to raise enough money to be able to finish the house to add windows and doors and purchase essential appliances for them.

 

I have extended family living in this village, so this information is reliable and the person handling the money to do the work will be a trustworthy and dependable resource. I did not ask for pictures of the house's condition to share to avoid causing discomfort and embarrassment for the family. I can keep everyone updated and post progress pics though! <3
