Help a Family Heal from Tragic Loss
Donation protected
Yesterday was one of the most tragic and heartbreaking days for this family. Shasta and Nick are incredibly generous, always going above and beyond for the horse community, as well as their friends and family. They are truly some of the most giving and caring people, yet they just experienced every horse owner’s worst nightmare.
While returning from a high school rodeo with their children and three horses, their RV suffered a mechanical issue, leading to a devastating accident. The horse trailer and RV tipped and the horse trailer it was towing went off a cliff. Thankfully, everyone in the RV was unharmed, but all three of their beloved horses tragically lost their lives. These animals were more than just horses—they were family, deeply loved by their owners and their children, with countless irreplaceable memories shared.
Poco was Emerald’s heart horse—the one she trusted with her life. He was the horse she planned to take to college to compete with, and together, they had built an incredible bond. They were on their way to qualifying for state this year.
45 was the horse everyone adored. He taught Willow so much and was the kind of horse anyone could hop on and enjoy, no matter their riding experience.
Doug was Emerald’s dream barrel horse. Countless hours of dedication went into keeping him comfortable after he was diagnosed with EPM.
These horses meant everything to this family. The love, time, and financial investment they dedicated to their children's dreams were taken from them in an instant.
Their horses were not insured, and I am hoping to raise funds to help ease the financial burden of this tragic accident. The heartbreak alone is unbearable—let’s come together to support this wonderful family in their time of need.
