I'm seeking support for a friend in mid-coast Maine whose husband was detained by ICE in May of this year. While driving to work he was stopped by ICE agents and though he had a valid work permit and drivers' license, he was detained because he had a small bag of labeled ingredients from an ethnic food market used to make his culture's traditional porridge. The ICE agents accused him of drug trafficking and detained him. He was denied bail and denied asylum, and is awaiting his final hearing where he will attempt to appeal the asylum decision.

I am hoping that our community can come together to support my friend and her two young daughters in this season of great uncertainty and heartache. Funds raised will be used to cover legal representation as well as rent, food, and phone calls to the detention center.
