Help a Family Get Back on Their Feet After Medical and Financial Hardship

Hi, my name is Kelsey, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother (Justin), his wife (Christa), and their two sons—Eliott (13) and Oliver (11). Their family has recently faced a series of heartbreaking and overwhelming challenges, and they need a helping hand to get through this incredibly difficult season of life.

Earlier this year, Christa began suffering from debilitating migraines that made it nearly impossible for her to work. She followed the proper steps to apply for short-term disability but was unfortunately laid off before the process was completed. For nearly two months, she was without income, which caused them to fall behind on bills and left them financially paralyzed.

To make matters worse, they were just informed they need to leave the home they’ve lived in for nearly a decade—a rent-controlled place that has provided stability for their children. Without savings, they simply cannot afford the costs of moving, security deposits, or basic essentials in a new place.

Justin has also been struggling. He lives with bipolar disorder and has recently had several visits to local mental health facilities due to suicidal thoughts. With the change in their financial situation, he simply could not afford his medication to treat his condition. He's doing everything he can to stay strong for his family, but the weight of their situation has become unbearable.

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. Our entire family is still grieving the loss of our father in 2024. He didn’t have life insurance, and I’ve been trying to recover from the unexpected financial burden that came with that ever since. I wish I could help more directly—but right now, I’m asking our community, friends, and even kind strangers for compassion and support.

This GoFundMe will help them:

  • Pay down overdue bills and keep essential utilities running
  • Put food on the table for their two boys, Eliott and Oliver
  • Cover basic essentials like hygiene items, clothing, and school supplies
  • Provide a small sense of stability while they work toward rebuilding
  • Access ongoing mental health and medical care

This isn’t a handout—it’s a lifeline. They’re not giving up. They’re fighting every day to move forward. With your help, they can breathe again, find safety, and rebuild their foundation.

If you’re not in a position to give, please consider sharing this link with your network. Every bit of support—financial or emotional—makes a difference.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading and for caring.

With gratitude,
Kelsey
