FIGHT AGAINST ABUSE

Our client is currently living at a shelter for domestic violence survivors. She has three (3) children under the age of five (5) in addition to being four (4) months pregnant. At the age of 16 she was forced into a marriage where she fell victim to emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.

She suffered atrocities not only from the hands of her husband but his family. In an attempt to isolate her, he cut off her connection to the outside world. Her husband controlled her access to the internet and phone by limiting who and when she could talk to her family located in Afghanistan. Through her years of abuse, she suffered a miscarriage as a result of his beating. For the birth of her second child, he refused to get her medical treatment, and she was forced to give birth at home.

Recently, her husband was granted full physical custody of all three children. Leveraging his employment and experience, he was able to hire a legal team while she had only access a translator. He was more presentable to the court because of his experience as a government employee and was familiar with the US legal system. She did not have the financial means for a lawyer or public advocate.

I have found her a lawyer who is willing to take on her case. The legal fees are estimated to be close to $15,000. I am requesting financial assistance for the client to have the legal representation needed to regain custody of her children. This legal representation will be the first time she will have an advocate. The first time where she will be able to legally stand up for her rights in the face of her long-time abuser and a sexual predator. Please help her find her voice and be reunited with her children.
