After three years of housing insecurity, I am finally on the verge of a new beginning. I have accepted a life-changing position in civil rights law on the East Coast, the kind of work I went to law school to do nearly two decades ago. This opportunity is a dream come true and a chance to use my experience and compassion to help others, but getting there is a challenge I can’t overcome alone.

Recently, I have been living without stable housing—camping, sleeping in my car, and working part-time online from a tent. My car now needs several repairs, and I am behind on insurance payments, making it difficult to use or sell the vehicle. I also need to cover moving expenses, including shipping my belongings, travel for myself and my cat, and move-in costs for a new rental home. My cat has been a true MVP companion through these times, and he needs a vet visit to be cleared for travel. I need to make sure we both arrive safely, smoothly, and ready to start this new chapter.

My employer needs me to confirm my start date several weeks in advance and begin work as soon as possible. Without support to secure housing and travel, I could jeopardize this chance to begin my new career.

I want to express my deep, heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has already helped me during these recent months—offering places to stay, gifting food and gas, and giving their time and energy in so many ways, including helping me post this fundraiser. Their support is the reason I’ve made it this far as safely and smoothly as I have. Now, I’m reaching out to a wider group to take this next, bigger step.
