Hi, my name is Katie. I’m a disabled single mother trying to secure safe, stable housing for myself and my daughter. Over the past several months, our living situation has become increasingly stressful due to ongoing issues with our landlord, including unresolved repairs and unsafe conditions that ultimately required involvement from the city.

Despite my efforts to communicate and follow every proper step, my lease ends at the end of January, and I now need to move quickly to protect my health and provide stability for my child. This situation was not by choice, but out of necessity.

I am currently in the process of applying for a new home. The required security deposit is $1,200 for a two-bedroom or $1,500 for a three-bedroom, depending on which unit I am approved for, along with first month’s rent, moving costs, and short-term storage. Because of my disability and limited income, coming up with these costs all at once has been overwhelming.

I am raising funds to help cover the deposit, moving expenses, and storage so my daughter and I can transition into a safe home without the risk of homelessness.
