Miguel's mom is a disabled grandmother of four who has spent the last eight years raising her late son's children alongside Miguel. Both Miguel and his mom are disabled and living on very tight, fixed incomes, making it difficult to keep up with urgent home repairs. Recently, their situation became critical when severe leaks in the roof led to an electrical fire in the wall under their kitchen sink. Thankfully, with the help of their church, they were able to put up a large tarp to stop the leaking temporarily, and Miguel managed to move the wires away from the danger zone.

Now, they are facing the reality that a new roof is desperately needed to keep everyone safe—especially the children living under their roof. They are only asking for the bare minimum needed to replace the roof, covering just the materials and waste costs, as generous friends have offered to help with the labor.
