Help a depressed black woman escape homelessness!

After tragically losing her mom in 2010, Deatera Brown couldn't afford to pay the mortgage on the house they'd shared together and ended up losing it too. Since then she's been homeless for the last 10 years, during which she's struggled with depression, been in and out of halfway houses, shelters, and tent encampments, always seeking help and never seeming to get it. But now she finally has a chance to escape homelessness! She's been able to find an affordable low-income apartment living next to her sister, where they'll be able to take care of each other. She's so close to having a safe and stable home again, but the costs of moving into the neighbourhood are still just out of her reach. She only needs $300 for the deposit and to pay a $40 fee in order to secure the apartment!
For all of us who care about the homelessness crisis currently facing our country, where unhoused people are constantly at high risk for Coronavirus infection, brutal police violence, and general harassment, I'm sure we all know how bad a time it really is to be on the streets. Since our government adamantly refuses to come up with solutions to try and house these people, instead responding with increased criminalization to make the problem worse, it's left up to us in the community to take care of each other.
2020 has been the year where Americans are finally ready to say Black Lives Matter, so let's prove they matter to us by saving one, and maybe 2020 can also be the year Deatera finally gets off the streets for good.
In her own words, she says: "God has blessed me with my own place, I just need a little help getting back on my feet. I'm going to prepare myself to better my situation and never be homeless again, please please help me." Let's give her that chance!
