Hello, my name is Zahra. I’m raising funds for my dear friends, an inspiring Deaf couple with three children, who lost their life savings to a dishonest builder.
What Happened:
Ahmed, a devoted father, teacher, and much‑loved member of the Deaf community, saved for years to extend the family’s tiny kitchen and make more space for their autistic son. After careful research, Ahmed and his wife chose a company called Daniel’s Building and Construction and agreed on a £60,000 price. (https://www.danielsbuildingandconstruction.co.uk)
Soon after work began, the builder:
- Demolished the kitchen first, leaving the family without cooking facilities.
- Pressured them for rapid payments, eventually demanding more than double the original quote—£72,000 in total.
- Missed appointments and sent threatening messages when asked for explanations.
After Ahmed asked his architect (Michael Pagliaroli Architects Ltd) for help, the architect generously gave up his time to investigate further and discovered that the builder was, in fact, a scammer. A council inspector later confirmed the work was unsafe and ordered the entire extension to be torn down.
The Situation Now:
- No safe kitchen or living space—the ground floor is unusable.
- No savings left - all funds went to the builder.
- Extra costs—they need a solicitor and regular British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters to pursue legal action, but can’t afford either.
