Hello! My name is Samy and I am a DACA recipient. The United States is my home and I have been living here since I was a child. Every two years, I go through the process of renewing my status as a work authorized individual in order to be able to stay here with my friends and family.
Recently, as of last year, my partner and I have started the legal process of applying for a green card through marriage. The process is long, and though we are happy to work toward our goal, it has been very difficult financially for us to pay for legal fees.
This year, I am set to renew my DACA application. The fee for the renewal + the legal fees for my greencard have left us in a tough financial position. We are a queer interracial couple, living with our three cats, and we're hoping to live a life in the future where we aren't living paycheck to paycheck.
We hope to fund raise half of what we owe to give us the boost we need.

¡Hola! Me llamo Samy y soy beneficiario de DACA. El Estados Unidos es mi hogar y he vivido aquí desde que era niño. Cada dos años, paso por el proceso de renovar mi estatus, con el fin de poder permanecer aquí con mis amigos y mi familia.
Recientemente, desde el año pasado, mi pareja y yo hemos iniciado el proceso legal para solicitar la tarjeta de residencia (Green Card) a través del matrimonio. El proceso es largo y, aunque estamos felices de trabajar para alcanzar nuestra meta, nos ha resultado muy difícil económicamente cubrir los honorarios legales.
Este año, me corresponde renovar mi solicitud de DACA. La tarifa de renovación, sumada a los gastos legales de mi tarjeta de residencia, nos ha dejado en una situación financiera complicada. Somos una pareja interracial y queer; vivimos con nuestros tres gatos y esperamos, en el futuro, poder llevar una vida en la que no tengamos que vivir al día, dependiendo de cada cheque de pago.
Esperamos recaudar fondos para cubrir la mitad de lo que adeudamos, lo cual nos daría el impulso que necesitamos.
